“Weird" isn’t enough to describe Lutherion III. With the lyrics it’s easier: they continue the idea from Lutherion II with legends of demons and gods, about the dogmas and the sacrileges of the “Illuminated” – as expected, the lyrics fall under a mystic/occult/dark side. What about the music? In places, Garden of Delight is reminiscent of Samael or Pain, but the rest could (just maybe) be described as somewhere where gothic, electro, darkwave and atmospheric black meet. The keyboards are everywhere, sometimes replacing the guitars (which still appear, fortunately, as they are pretty much the only thing that they have in common with metal), and the voice seems to come from an abyss. Everything is rather strange, and the songs are sometimes hard to get. Still, they are interesting, coherent and send a strong message. I would recommend especially Illuminate, The Abyss, Sangreal, Venus Pentagram and In Memoriam. I would also recommend listening to the album several times, preferably on different days, because it doesn’t always figure. It’s difficult and complicated, but still rather special once you start digesting it.
